Volleyball World Overview

Volleyball World is a partnership between the FIVB and CVC, created to drive growth, innovation and investment in the global game of volleyball. Its goal is to develop an integrated ecosystem connecting all volleyball stakeholders, from fans to athletes, to corporate partners, through both digital and live events. Volleyball is the fourth most popular sport in the world, with more than 800 million fans and high participation across the globe. 

Through Volleyball World, the FIVB and CVC are looking to maximise the potential of this global phenomenon and bring it to the forefront of the sporting world via Volleyball World and its OTT platform VBTV, which streams over 4000+ live matches every year.  

Challenges faced

Volleyball World covers thousands of volleyball & beach volleyball matches all over the world. They needed a solution to be able to centralise, tag, and distribute content quickly and efficiently to players, rights-holders, Volleyball federations, media and sponsors. 

They sought out a digital asset management platform that could provide quick access and searchability of all their content, ranging from photos to videos and live broadcasts. Additionally, they needed it to automate content delivery to athletes, and wanted their partners to be tagged. ScorePlay was their go-to solution that provided a comprehensive, all-in-one package, without having to juggle several different tools.

WSC Sports Integration

This deal allows ScorePlay to integrate with the leading AI-powered platform for creating and distributing real-time sports highlights — WSC Sports. Now, Volleyball World will use ScorePlay as its front-end distribution tool, to deliver top plays and highlights automatically from the WSC Sports platform to the ScorePlay platform, so that they can be used by their internal media teams. By using ScorePlay’s innovative tagging method, highlights will also be distributed directly to the players via the ScorePlay app. Check out our other integrations here.

ScorePlay media hub

Volleyball World chose ScorePlay on an initial 2-year contract as their official media asset manager in the January 2023, so we deployed our AI-powered classification to begin tagging and sorting their assets and archives. The solution will provide them with:

• Centralisation, storage and distribution both internally and externally (via ScorePlay App)

• Photographers’ workflows for near real-time photo publication

• A location for Media partners to download assets from events - acting as their media room
