Swiss Football League Amplifies Digital Reach & Media Management with ScorePlay

The Swiss Football League has led the way in adopting new technology to boost its online visibility and reach. After joining ScorePlay in 2023, this successful partnership is now being extended until 2027.

They were facing challenges with the management of their media, with content bottlenecks between league, teams and broadcasters. Access and searchability of content were the hurdles in growing the SFL brand, and providing their fans with the content they wanted, when they wanted it. They studied the market and found ScorePlay as a partner, a company that would match their ambition and build a custom solution to suit their needs.

Centralised LIVE and Archive broadcast storage system

With over 300 users on the main platform, ScorePlay’s SFL platform hosts over 20.000 assets and over 200 TB of storage, including all league matches for both the Super League and the Challenge League from +10 seasons as well as Cup matches. All these media, already downloaded 10.000+ times in 2024, are instantly accessible on ScorePlay for editing, download or simple tag-based search.

Since the beginning of this 2024/2025 season, all the 400+ league matches are live ingested on ScorePlay in broadcast quality via SRT delivery, available for live playback and clipping before instant transcoding into a video file with proxies for archiving and wider sharing. This will enable all clubs and users of the platform to access the match in broadcast quality faster than ever and without forcing the delivery of broadcast files post-match.

Auto Action Logging and Tagging allows users to associate a timestamp to a specific action, both automatically through our data integration with Opta (STATS Perform), or manually in case it needs to get more granular.

ScorePlay’s Video Clipping feature also allows all platform users to easily clip and export from the files (full matches, etc…) in multiple aspect ratios. Finding and creating clips has never been easier, thanks to Automatic Transcription & Search, so any keyword or phrase can be easily found in seconds - no matter the language.

On top of this, tactical views of all matches are also auto-imported into ScorePlay from a third party supplier and matches are automatically shared with different SFL key partners in their ecosystem (scouting & analysis platforms, strategic video partners, …)

Match highlights ingested on ScorePlay are automatically published on the official league website via our built-in video player, enabling direct distribution of these match highlights in multiple languages and connecting football fans in every corner of the world. Last but not least, all players have their headshots directly synced and served on SFL’s official website (match center, …) from ScorePlay. Outside of the main media management scope, SFL also benefits from a specific platform tailored for the league’s referees where they can watch matches from different angles and study the game to improve their work week by week. Beyond the league, ScorePlay works with a third of their clubs, and a surge in streams and global engagement was observed, with better resources and access to content for all the stakeholders. The league facilitates club digital infrastructures so clubs has their own individual ScorePlay workspace for their in house content - this helps them archive training and behind the scenes footage, photos, and more. Additionally, besides accessing the league platform, 8 clubs partner with ScorePlay (BSC Young Boys, Servette FC, FC Luzern, Neuchâtel Xamax FCS, FC Thun, FC Aarau, and FC Lausanne-Sport) to have a workflow that fits their individual needs, such as archive migration and storage.
